About:
Audioverse is a procedurally generated side scroller that follows the story of a music archaeologist traveling through space to collect ancient pieces of music transmissions that have been floating around in space for years. The levels are themed and procedurally generated based on the music data.
This game is currently being developed in C# and Unity. The team consists of myself, an artist, a writer, and a producer/designer. Audioverse was one of the finalists in the GameSig 2014 competition.
My Tasks:
Current
-Generated levels based on amplitude data from different spectrums of audio input
-Matched speed of game and ship to the speed of the music
-Implemented 3 separate themes for levels, with the ability to easily add more
-Implemented all menus and UI
-Modified generation of level to be playable and winnable
-Implemented powerups to give the player more power during the game, including invincibility, shooting, and score multipliers
-Created a level select screen and a save file that stores level data such as score, song, rank, etc.
Future
-Make range of amplitude and frequency more dynamic based on the song
